Kickstart Your Goals: A Simple Framework to Achieve Success in the New Year
As we step into the new year, many of us feel the urge to "start" something new—whether it’s a project, a habit, or a dream we’ve been putting off. A few weeks ago, I explored this idea in-depth on my podcast episode, Deconstructing a Million Dollar Lighting Business. Today, I want to revisit it and share a simple framework that can help you take intentional steps toward your goals.
The first step to achieving anything significant is to ask yourself some foundational questions. Here’s the framework:
What do you want?
Take a moment to define your goal clearly. Be specific about what you want to accomplish.
Why do you want it?
Reflect on your motivations. Why is this goal meaningful to you? Dig deep and be vulnerable.
How important is it to you?
Honestly evaluate how much achieving this goal matters to you. Is it a top priority, or is it something you’re lukewarm about?
Who will need to be part of this?
Success often requires support. Identify the people who will play a role in your journey, whether they’re direct contributors or part of your broader support system.
When will you start and finish?
Set clear timelines. Decide when to begin, and determine how long you’ll work toward your goal. Will you see it through to completion, or is there a point where you’ll reassess?
What needs to be true for the “what” to happen?
Consider the conditions or changes necessary to make your goal achievable. Do you need more time, resources, or skills?
This framework might seem simple, but its power lies in its intentionality. By thoughtfully answering these questions, you’ll gain clarity and a sense of direction.
So, is there something you want to achieve this year? Take a few minutes and try this out. Write down your answers, and don’t be afraid to dig deep. Vulnerability and honesty are key to uncovering what truly matters to you.
If you’d like to hear a detailed walkthrough of this process, check out my podcast episode, Deconstructing a Million Dollar Lighting Business. It’s packed with insights that can help you kickstart your goals and keep moving forward.
Let me know how it goes—I’d love to hear about your journey.
Keep moving forward!
