Last year, I sent an email that struck a nerve. It resonated so much that I received a flood of replies.
And just the other day, someone brought it up again.
So, I figured it was worth sharing one more time—because it’s just as relevant today as it was then.
Here’s what I said…
I came across this quote the other day:
“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”
– Jim Rohn
That one hits hard.
Because I’ve been guilty of making excuses.
And I see it constantly in business owners. Every week, I hear things like:
🔸 “Leads are slow.”
🔸 “People won’t pay higher prices.”
🔸 “It’s harder to close deals these days.”
But here’s the truth: those aren’t reasons. They’re excuses.
Every time we make an excuse, we have to ask ourselves:
Do we really want what we say we want?
The most successful people in this industry aren’t the ones with the best website, the biggest ad budget, or the fanciest trucks.
They’re the ones who believe.
✅ They believe in themselves.
✅ They believe in their value.
✅ They believe people will pay their price.
And guess what? That belief is what makes it true.
One of my favorite quotes is from Henry Ford:
“Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re right.”
I’ve repeated this so often that my kids probably finish the sentence for me. 😂
But it’s true.
If you don’t believe people will pay $500 per light, you won’t charge it.
If you don’t believe you can get better leads, you won’t even try.
If you don’t believe you can close more deals, you won’t change how you sell.
And then… you’ll prove yourself right.
Instead of obsessing over results, start with what actually creates them: your thoughts.
Because thoughts shape beliefs.
Beliefs drive actions.
Actions produce results.
The longer I do this, the more I see the same patterns:
👉 The people struggling all think a certain way.
👉 The people winning all think a different way.
It’s not luck. It’s not magic. It’s belief.
🔹 What do you really believe?
🔹 Are your thoughts setting you up for success or failure?
🔹 Are you finding a way… or an excuse?
Because the answer to those questions determines everything.
Keep Moving Forward!
