The Power of Doing Hard Things: How Community Makes You Unstoppable

A couple of weeks ago, I spent 10 days on the road—away from my family, but with my lighting family.

It was one of the best trips I’ve had in a long time.

We hosted our first in-person Luminary Mastermind, our Lighting Legends event, and wrapped it all up with Secrets Summit and the Luxury Illumination 10-Year Party.

It was a full-on Lighting Week—and it reminded me of something powerful:

When you bring people together who are chasing growth, incredible things happen.

People opened up. Got vulnerable. Challenged each other. Leveled up.

It was proof that the right community can push you further than you’d ever go on your own.

The theme that week was UNSTOPPABLE.

And one of the things we did was go for a 6 a.m. run.
Now listen… I hate mornings.
And I don’t even like running.

That’s exactly why I do it.

Running helps me start the day by doing the hardest thing first. Once I finish that, everything else feels easier.

It also trains my mind not to quit—because 90% of running is just talking yourself out of stopping.

Doesn’t that sound a lot like business?

The most successful people aren’t always the smartest or most talented.
They’ve just mastered the art of doing hard things longer than everyone else.
When others stop, they keep going.

So here’s my question for you:

👉 What things in your business are you putting off because they’re uncomfortable?

Maybe it’s hiring.
Maybe it’s raising prices.
Maybe it’s building systems or finally training your team properly.

Those are the hard things—but they’re also the right things.

Because everything you want is on the other side of discomfort.

If you’re just cruising, installing lights, and staying in your comfort zone—you’ve built yourself a job, not a business.

If you want freedom, growth, and real success, you’ve got to do the hard stuff—especially when you don’t feel like it.

Here’s the cheat code though: community.

When I was out there running in the Florida humidity, I wanted to quit.
But because I had a group beside me, I didn’t.

That’s the power of community.
It keeps you accountable.
It pushes you forward.
It makes you unstoppable.

If you’re not already part of one—join one.
And if you are, lean into it.

Inside Landscape Lighting Secrets, we’re doubling down on community this year because it’s what creates real transformation.

You don’t need to do this alone.

So here’s my challenge for you this week:
Find that thing you’ve started but haven’t finished.
The thing you’ve been avoiding because it’s hard.

Then go do it—especially when you don’t feel like it.

Because that’s what unstoppable people do.

Keep moving forward.
