The Power of No: How Rejection Leads to Success

What if I told you that you were only 36 months away from earning $10 million?

And all you had to do was get 2,000 people to tell you no—so that 200 people could tell you yes.

How excited would you be to hear your first no?

Many people fear rejection, so they never start. But the truth is, you just need to get those no’s out of the way to get to the yeses!

Success Is a Numbers Game

A few weeks ago, I attended DTDcon, a door-to-door sales conference in Utah. The attendees were expert door knockers—individuals who understand diligence, hard work, and the psychology of sales. Some of them make hundreds of thousands of dollars in just a few months selling everything from solar panels to security systems.

They understand one fundamental truth: sales is a numbers game.

When I first learned sales, I was taught that success comes to those who keep going without quitting. And isn’t that just like business? If you refuse to give up, you will win.

Are You Willing to Push Through?

Ask yourself:

How badly do you want what you say you want?

What are you willing to sacrifice to achieve it?

Can you handle getting 97 no’s to land 3 yeses?

It’s time to shift your perspective. Instead of dreading rejection, embrace it. Each no brings you closer to your goal.

Do the Math, Get the Results

Think about how much money you want to make. Think about the level of freedom you desire.

Now, do the math. Figure out the numbers needed to reach that goal and take action. While developing skills along the way will improve your success rate, simply playing the numbers game will surprise you with how far you can go.

Of course, if you can increase your yes rate—getting 5 or even 10 yeses instead of just 3 per 100—then you’re improving your odds. But the key is to stay consistent. Don’t quit. Don’t pivot too soon. Stay disciplined and put in the reps.

Embrace the No’s

Got your first no? Good. One step closer.

Got another handful of rejections? Great. You’re moving forward.

Rejection isn’t failure—it’s progress. Every no means you’re one step closer to success. So don’t fear the no’s. Embrace them. Because if you keep pushing forward, your yes is just around the corner.

Go get it!
